How Triggers Keep You Stuck in Survival Mode (and Block Your Abundance)

Your amygdala (fear center) detects a threat—except instead of an actual saber-toothed tiger, it’s just your brain linking the present moment to an unresolved past experience.

Step 2: High Beta Brainwaves Take Over

Your brain kicks into high gear, flooding with high beta brainwaves. This is the “I can’t stop overthinking” state. High beta is great when you need sharp focus in a crisis, but terrible for creating, trusting, or attracting abundance.

What happens in this state?

  • You hyper-analyze everything (“What did they mean by that? Am I not good enough?”)
  • You loop in worst-case scenarios (“This always happens. What if I fail? What if I never get what I want?”)
  • Your body tenses up, expecting an attack
  • Your intuition and creativity shut down because your brain is stuck in survive now, thrive later mode

Step 3: Stress Hormones Flood Your System

Your body gets the memo and dumps cortisol and adrenaline into your bloodstream. These are great if you need to outrun a bear—not so great if you’re trying to feel aligned, magnetic, and open to receiving.

Your entire energy shifts into scarcity, protection, and resistance. And just like that, you’ve slammed the door on abundance, even if consciously you’re trying to manifest something bigger.


Why High Beta Brainwaves Block Abundance

Here’s the thing—abundance isn’t found in survival mode. You don’t attract ease, flow, and prosperity when your brain is locked in overdrive.

To tap into your highest potential, you need access to alpha and theta brainwaves—these are the states of relaxation, intuition, and subconscious reprogramming. They’re where manifestation, deep healing, and receiving happen effortlessly.

But when high beta takes over, your brain:
Can’t access deep wisdom or intuition
Stays fixated on control, fear, and limitations
Can’t see new opportunities because it’s scanning for threats

In short, your survival brain doesn’t let you expandit only lets you repeat past patterns to stay safe.”

So, how do you break the cycle?


How to Shift Out of Survival Mode & Into Abundance

If you want to unlock your full potential (and stop feeling like you’re battling your own brain), you have to teach your nervous system that it’s safe to receive.

1. Breathwork to Regulate Your Nervous System

Your breath is a direct hack into your brainwaves. Slowing your breathing signals safety, dropping you into alpha brainwave states where intuition and creativity flow.

Try 4-7-8 breathing:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds
  • Hold for 7 seconds
  • Exhale for 8 seconds

This literally shuts off the high beta freakout and brings your body into calm presence.

2. Meditation & Visualization

Your subconscious doesn’t know the difference between reality and imagination. When you visualize yourself in your most abundant, calm, and magnetic state, your brain rewires itself to believe that’s normal.

(And normal = accessible.)

3. Move Your Body (Get Energy Unstuck)

Trauma and stress get stored in the body, so trying to “think” your way out of a survival response rarely works. Movement—whether it’s shaking, dancing, yoga, or tapping—helps release stored energy and shifts your nervous system into safety.

4. Rewire Limiting Beliefs (Your Brain is Lying to You)

High beta brainwaves keep you locked in the same limiting beliefs that have kept you small. When a trigger hits, your brain pulls from old programming to make sense of it, usually reinforcing:

  • “I’m not enough.”
  • “It’s not safe to trust.”
  • “I have to struggle to survive.”

This is not truthit’s just a well-rehearsed brain pattern. Start catching these thoughts and replacing them with:

  • “I am safe to expand.”
  • “Abundance flows when I relax.”
  • “I choose to receive with ease.”

It might feel fake at first, but trust me, your brain eventually believes whatever you repeat.

5. Get Outside (Nature Resets Your Brain)

Nature entrains your brain to alpha waves, helping it shift out of high beta chaos. Ever notice how everything feels clearer after a walk outside? That’s your brain syncing with the Earth’s natural healing frequencies.

Touch the ground, listen to the wind, feel the sun—let nature reset you.
